Elbow Patch

I FINALLY managed to get myself a grey cardi with black elbow patches!!!! Although I had to head to the kids section and grab (a still to big for me) age 13-14 one, I am glad I have one :) Don't you just LOVE them? I am so in love that my handsome fiance just got a shirt with them on {here}. Yes, I have Instagram.

VienneMilano

So there is this wonderful brand that sells ONLY thigh high stockings! And I am blessed enough to introduce you to them. VienneMilano is an online store dedicated to selling the best quality thigh high stockings made in Italy using the finest fabrics such as silk, cashmere & microfibre blends. The perception of thigh high stockings has been so warped & women who wear them are thought to be too provocative. Vienne Cheung, founder of VienneMilano, has created a brand that tries to steer away from that view making women feel more drawn to thigh high stockings with the perception of confidence. Thigh highs are great as they add a fun, playful side to outfits and these particular thigh high stockings are extremely comfortable with a silicone band that adheres to your thigh & so stays in place all day long be it at work or out shopping! I am so looking forward to wearing this trend this winter, aren't you? Well if your answer was yes then here is some AWESOME news...(PS. They deliver to ANYWHERE in the world, South Africans)

Fashion 101: Thigh High

I thought to myself on Friday when I was in the midlands bootless and jacketless and I was freezing my butt off... "I wish I had some thigh high cosy socks and boots right about now." Well that was just the little thought that made me realise my winter trend is going to be thigh high! Thigh high socks over sheer stockings or thigh high socks and shorts whilst it is still a bit warmer... Here is how to do this new trend :)
All in black attack! Done with shorts and cute lace up ankle booties. This look really does the job at elongating her legs and making her seem miles high. Super simple black thigh high socks - looks pretty much right to me...
Although I would wear a dress or some shorts if I was heading out in this outfit, the cute little heart detailed stockings are a must! Adding a feminine touch to a very harsh black thigh high sock and zipper detailed boots. I love the slouchieness of the socks too!
A somewhat more neutral and very well put together look... Love the cute off white/grey socks with striped detail in the knit! This look looks like the ultimate cosy outfit. The pop of burgundy is also a hit as it is one of winters warm colours and makes you feel steamy at just a glance.

The most awesome thing about the thigh high sock trend is that you can still show as much of your personality as you'd like. Wear them with cute stockings or on their own in a fun print for a quirky winter hit or wear them in a nice neutral with brown boots and a sling bag for boho chilled chic. If you want to be more glam then get some sparkle on with some cute embellished boots and a simple black dress!

Seriously one of the looks I cannot wait to rock this winter... will you?

Ombre Hombre

Gradation... Such a simple concept but with the most "wow"ing responses. I absolutely love the way this trend has been taken from a simple hair colour to accessories to fashion and even to decor!
Are you loving the Ombre Trend?

Autumn/Winter 2012 by Burberry Prorsum

Burberry Prorsum really wowed the London Fashion Week with their take on "Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you". Their winter staples include peeks of ruffles, oversized knits and jewels. Love it or hate it, you're going to find yourself slipping into something more Burberry when winter rolls on in!

Fashion 101 : Ombre vs Regrowth

Yes, as Jeannie Mai always says, your hair is an accessory too! So that is why there is a hair post under my Fashion 101 slot. We all know that the Ombre hair trend has been quite the hit...whether it is over for good or not is yet to be decided! There is one small issue though... the difference between ombre hair and regrowth seems to be sorely missed and many people are walking around thinking it is OK to have THAT much blonde and THAT much brown at the same time... Here is the difference.

Ombre Hair:
Why - It is low maintenance, easy to grow out and so in this season! It suits most people and can look very professional if done really well.
Who - Alexa Chung. She has made this look and also sports it really well. Many people feel that you need to have long flowing locks to do the ombre hair trend but look how casual and cool Alexa looks in her do.

How - Go to a salon! At least for the first do go and get the professionals to do it for you. The idea is to have darker roots and go slightly lighter down the length of your hair. There are different ways to do it such as more subtle or very ombre. The more subtle the more natural it would look and the more ombre the harsher the definition would be... BUT never looking like regrowth.
Colour - Yes. You can do a colour style of ombre hair such as Katy Perry is sporting now. Darker pink roots fading into blonde. Otherwise very often the reverse is all over hollywood with dip-dyed colour hair at the ends of the hair and lighter at the roots. Just be brave, be careful and do not look like a clown!

Regrowth:
How - Regrowth is caused when the hair is dyed a shade darker or lighter than the original tone of your hair. As the hair grows longer the roots push out the new (natural) hair tone and the dyed colour fades downwards.
Who - Cameron Diaz does the right amount of regrowth as it makes the hair look more natural when there is a slightly darker root. It is healthier, newer and less exposed hair and so it will naturally be that way. But if the line between dark and light is too well drawn  then you know you need a major touch up.
Why - Regrowth can be the hair look unhealthy and also very poorly looked after. If you are willing to do a drastic colour change then you must be willing to pay the costs on a regular basis for a touch up.
What - Go to the hair dresser. If you are wanting to change back to your natural colour you can either dye it a closer shade and let that grow out properly or you could strip the hair of the old dye back to your natural. You will need a treatment if that is done as you will be doing a lot of damage to your hair.

Whatever your pick make sure your hair is clean, healthy and protected for longer lasting colour and a great feeling you. Because as I said your hair can make or break your outfit as an accessory!

Fashion 101 : The Peplum

Have you seen them? Have you heard of them? Peplums are all the rage and are a come back from the 1900's. WOW! Here is a little fun info on peplums...
Here Blake Lively sports a mild black peplum inspired skirt at the Jason Wu for Target Fete. Image source : here.
1. Peplums originated from Greece and was the Greek word for tunic.
2. Peplum films are the title given to the genre of films which incorporate old Greek history and style.
3. In the 19th century a peplum referred to a short overskirt that was originally (and sometimes it is still) attached to the bottom of a jacket. It usually drops at the waist on a womans' body.
4. The purpose for a peplum was to add to a womans' figure and enhance her hips and therefore make her waist appear smaller.

From the runway to the stores...
From  the runway (above) : Badgley Mischka, Jason Wu, Cushnie et Ochs & Rodarte. Image
To the stores (below) : J-Crew, Aqua(LOVE this one), XOXO and Modcloth(my pick). Image
The key to buying a peplum to fit your figure is to go for a more fitted peplum if you have a more healthy, curvy figure. This will cinch in the waist and flare just enough on the hips so as not to add to your already banging hips. If you are petite then go for a slightly more flared peplum that will play on your proportions nicely. In the end it is a stunning look for a good dinner date or a great professional look for the office.

Get to add onto this post... I just got myself a cute little black one from Mr. Price that looks very much like this. Unfortunately I couldn't copy the pic I have here so had to steal this one that looks very similar to the skirt. The littlr folds on the skirt are pockets. SO nifty. Now owning one I know why you'd want one. Such a great fitting piece of clothing! Go see the image at Polyvore.
