This weekend I watched many a movie and one was a DVD. This is how the choice making went.
Me : I could watch a DVD.
Soldier : Mmmm. Sounds good.
Vroom vroom. Park. Click. Beep beep. "No Name Brand DVD Store".
Me : Um... why not get an old one for fun? (Knowing we have officially watched all the "Hot Off The Circuit" DVD's when they were on the circuit).
Soldier : Hm. Let's look. Hey they have (I don't hear this part because it is probably a terrible action I am not interested in).
15 minutes later...
Soldier : They have this one. Flips cover over to start the long convincing read.
Me : Let's just take it. Grabs the disc before he can read it.
1 x The Secret of Moonacre bought on a whim... R25 later.
The Secret of Moonacre is a film directed by Gabor Csupo who directed the film "Bridge to Terabithia" (which we all cried like little girls in). It is adapted from the book "The Little White Horse" by Elizabeth Goudge. This book was J.K. Rowling's best book as a child (that's a nice thing to know).
The Secret of Moonacre is a beautiful movie about Maria (Dakota Blue Richards as from The Golden Compass), a lovely lady who loses her dad and with him, everything. He leaves her a book however which unveils her destiny.
This book is written to explain the happenings of Moonacre which is where Maria moves to when she is passed on to her Uncle. Moonacre is under a curse due to two families' pride and Maria must break the curse by finding the magic pearls and releasing them into the ocean.
The movie really touched me spiritually as I felt that it was a direct translation of our lives - we all have a huge destiny and something we need to break in our lives, but it will take a much bigger sacrifice than our possessions to lift the curse...
I don't want to go into much more detail as I don't want to ruin the movie if you are planning to hit your nearest "No Name Brand DVD Store". I really encourage you to watch this film and enjoy it!
