Fashion 101: Chambray vs Denim

Being an avid Pinner I have noticed this sudden obsession with chambray...and this whole time I thought I was just wearing a denim shirt?! Well, soon after doing some research I was happy to know that my shirt is indeed a denim shirt but the "denim" shirt Lee owns is a chambray shirt. What is the difference?
Chambray : "a lightweight fabric woven with white threads across a coloured warp".
Denim : "is a rugged cotton twill textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads".

The simple difference is lightweight vs rugged! Now you know :)

i like them both together, is that weird? i used to absolutely DESPISE denim on denim, and i still do to a degree, but i like the dark vs. light...only for now. i am not going to venture to say that i'll like that look 10 years from now...because we all know what happens to these trends!
but i like this lightweight vs. rugged explanation! very true.
