This weekend didn't go all as planned...
My Friday night was filled with Dodgeball where I broke a light not even playing the game! Broken fluorescent somehow sounds like a good name for an "emo" song about a girl(it always is) who is now broken and her light does not shine... I might write it. Sad thoughts.
Saturday morning I woke up to hammering at number 1… to put it in perspective, we are number 3. Then after pondering on when to actually get clean-it was one of those mornings-a friend called to suggest we assist another mate in fixing stuff at her new place. So, my mid morning was spent driving around Durban to find the car boot sale only to realize it is on Sundays! How monkey of them not to send me the memo… =) Then off to the place to fix up… It was good payback to neighbors as we made a racket. Not fair I guess as they are not my neighbors but none the less it felt awesome!
Then that Saturday evening was a surprise party. It was a surprise to me as well as I didn't know I was invited until the last minute… The surprise went down swimmingly considering I have been to at least 50 surprise parties and they NEVER work out!
Sunday was a great day! I did one of my most favorite things and hopped on a little L26 boat with my best (girl)friend and went for a sailing regatta(race) offshore of the Durban Harbour. What a beautiful day for a sail… The wind was so great we didn't need the spinnaker and even if we did there was no chance we were to put it up considering we had no tweakers(somehow they are important in the spinnaker putting up-ness). Some pics should follow here as we were photographed very much. One of the best thoughts I had whilst on the boat was that many times I have sat on the beach and stared at the sailors out on the little boats in the shimmering diamond ocean and wished to be there… and now I was and it is just as glorious! Oh, I do love sailing.
Little did I guess I would get somewhat sea-sick right at the end of the sail. I did not get sick the previous times but those were all not off-shore sails and would explain it! I did not do the deed of throwing over board but I did feel very much like a sailor a night after a stop on shore. Ugh. As soon as we hit the harbor again I was all myself. This was from 9.30 until 1 and it was amazing.
The rest of my Sunday was spent with my special Soldier. Avo catching. TV watching. Food eating. Nothing. It was glorious!
Monday - WOW it is in my weekend stories! YAY! Monday morning was spent packing as we are moving house. Let us not talk about this too long - I will miss the sea much… Then it was off to the beach for a swim and chip rolls… Yum! If only they were gourmet chip rolls-not at this time of the month.
And after a long Facebook message thread from some friends who were also clearly feeling the punch of the end of the month - no airtime so resorting to Facebook - we had a late afternoon picnic at the "park" across from Gateway! It was too beautiful and some random moments were had - photo's to follow!
Finally, I got to my movie popcorn watching Rango in lovebird seats with my Soldier! I don't care too much for movie critiquing as it is all about the seat, popcorn and the love!
…but it absolutely rocked and I cannot wait till next weekend!
=)
