ENJOY...

Wedding fit for a princess...

Yes, I was blessed enough to get a seat in my directors' office to watch the Royal Wedding. It was not really my scene but you can't help but share in the celebration. I think she looked beautiful in her Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton.

I would easily settle for her sister's dress. How elegant and beautiful is it too!

Golly, Miss Molly!

Molly King looks incredible in (my favourite) sailor themed outfit. I love how even the lady on her shirt matches her so well. I adore the navy skirt & how she paired it with tan wedges really is a do! Looking very grand!

Uba Nice

Strolling along and "liking" some pages on Facebook I saw this whilst on the Hruki page. This really is an awesome idea and snaps for the people who started it!
Uba Nice (click on the name to view the FB page) are a company that make wall graphics like you've never seen them before! All their packaging, inks and plastics are 100% recyclable so this really is of something to look into if you are all for saving the future and what not.

Take a sneak peak(not that sneaky actually, if you've looked on the FB site already) at some of the graphics I really loved.

Love the colour - it is one for the year 2011. How "Alice in Wonderland"
How clever and quirky! Paired with such "normal" furniture, it pops!
Has to be one of my favourites! I love the scene... Not in a bad way.
Couldn't put it better than they do... 99 Red Balloons (go by).
Check out their FB site here. Check out their website here. And contact them here.

If walls could speak... or if you could read them!

Blog hunting is fun. I found this amazing idea from the newest in my blogging collection, Aunt Peaches. Click here to take a look see.

This idea was shown on one of her posts and it has featured as a back-drop for many other posts. What a rad idea - to tear up a book and post the pages onto your wall. Really, this is wall paper in it's most raw state.
 1. The original post after blogging about the creative idea
 2. A back drop for her post on pearls and how to make a jewellery hanging board.
 3. The paper featuring behind the Easter tree. Yummy!

Chilli Boy

Last week Saturday night(as far as I can remember it was Saturday...) we got free tickets(thank you amz) to go and watch Chilli Boy(click on the title to access the web page) with some friends. It was honestly too funny and too true.

Written by Geraldine Naidoo who has also written Hoot, it is a purely South African play starring a cast of one, award winning actor, Matthew Ribnick.
The basic story line is of an old Indian woman who is reincarnated as a white gangster from Boksburg. Matthew Ribnick is outstanding in this role as he plays characters such as the Indian lady, the gangster, his mom and all 3 friends and more!
Matthew Ribnick in the role of the Indian lady...
I really encourage you to go and support this South African show as it has sold out in South Africa many times as well as many sold out shows in London!

031

So, Durban has had it's fair share of strife and never been known to be super big but according to the 031 Collection event by Mr.Price, it has just gotten it's glory!

Agyness Deyn is hitting our Durban Shores in May! Check the event out here!

Colour me natural...

Elle has a fabulously fun quiz on which colours suite you...Although I am not a firm believer in scores from random quizzes, it is always fun to see what they come up with! I tried it and the below was my score, pretty accurate... but like a chameleon, we change regularly.
Go try the quiz here!

Oooo, Elle la.

I spotted this on the Mr.Price Blog and could not help it! I could have scrapped all images from their post but this one in particular caught my eye!

I love it, Elle.
Here's my 8 to 1 rank on the above outfit, although as a whole it is ranked very highly!

8. (Our left) Arm accessories
7. Glasses
6. Hair
5. Hat with flower
4. (Our right) Arm accessories
3. Blouse
2. Skirt
1. Handbag

Let's go a-hunting...

I have seen many Easter posts and everyone may wonder where my Easter spirit is... Well it is obviously in a white easter egg from Beacon. The best eggs of the season...

I love these eggs because they taste amazing and they are easy to decorate. For every artist they start with a clean white slate and are so perfectly smooth...

Paint them with the following edible options :

• Food colouring - use bright colours and the more, the darker and brighter they will be
• Fruit Dyes - using fruit that has been boiled down to a sauce. Place the eggs in and this will be best if you simply want to change the colour as a whole with no patterns.
• More chocolate - using dark, medium and light chocolate drizzle the melted chocolates over the eggs and create some arty patterns.
• Icing - just like icing sugar. Make different colours and decorate the sweet with more sweet!

Happy Easter and don't forget the real reason we celebrate... John 19 and John 20

Gangs of Ballet

New band, Gangs of Ballet, will be opening for aKing on Saturday the 30th April at Unit 11. Be there!

Johannesburg, a dog, a window and me

I was in JHB this weekend for a conference. It was cold, wet, misty and well, interesting. Here is my story for my Saturday afternoon...

Around 4.40pm and I was going to get my stuff and get going back to the conference...

Me : I am just going to put on something warmer...

Soldier : Ok. See you now now.

I was sharing a room with a lady from Zimbabwe and so went up and closed the main door behind me to put on my warmer shoes. Yes, all I did was change my shoes. Not rocket science and does not talk about an hour to do...

30 minutes later... I was still in my room. If you were there you would have found me with one foot firmly placed on the wall about door handle height and both my hands gripped tightly around the door handle pulling with all my might. No luck. I am STUCK! No one has come to think where I can be and what is taking so long!

After observing the heights from each room and window I came to the conclusion of which window I would make the great jump from. Yes, I was going to jump out of the window.

By 5.20pm I had already thought about how good my aim could be by throwing chair upon chair to jump out of this window safely with as much spacing as possible. And thought about a table but it wouldn't fit and had also crawled out to hang by one hand about 5 times and pulled myself up. I think I realized how dangerous the jump would be given the space between the opposing wall and my wall(I think I can call it MY wall now), the light fixture that was in the way and the stairs on my right hand side.

Next option... throw the cushions from the couch onto the floor below. At least it would be a soft landing. In this I landed up speaking to the dog and asking it to go and bark for me. It looked up and just grunted as if it was laughing at the silly blonde girl hanging out the window.

5.35... The bus will leave soon. Without me. I heard some familiar voices and I screamed for my boyfriend only to have no luck. But the maid did come. She saw the pillows and without looking for where they magically fell from she started picking up my only hope of a soft landing(unless the dog walked past again before I jumped). I screamed again and with that my boyfriend and his fellow men were walking through and saw me. He laughed. Saw the pillows. Stopped laughing. Ran. Pushed the door open. Hugged me.

5.45... We left the house.

Black Attack

For some reason many women seem to stray from black nail polish... I on the other hand absolutely embrace it with all 10 fingernails!

There are some rules obviously to the black attack...

1. Don't wear it with all black unless you are wearing your LBD and some very elegant bling. This makes the black on your nails seem like an addition to the outfit rather than another rebellious way to get noticed and be feared.

2. Keep you nails short. Long + black = witch! Short + black = stylish! Do the deed and chop down to size to wear this colour well.

3. Wear it with brights. Rather than wearing it with pastels (which will water it down) wear it with bright colours! You'll be right on trend wearing black nails with bright block colours.

4. Wear it to work. Surprise, my nails are black as I type from my office desk! It can look very sophisticated with a good "working girl" outfit.

I found a really great thick black nail polish from Dischem. By the brand LA Girls, it contains diamond shine and white tea extract to nourish and protect rather than being to harsh.
If you are concerned about your nails becoming yellow after wear, just follow these rules :
1. Make sure you wear an undercoat.
2. Take the nail polish off about 2 or max 3 days after applied. The longer you leave it on, the worse it will be.
3. If you have any yellow or discolouration then scrub your nails with lemon extract and always remember to moisturize with a moisture-rich cream and possibly use cuticle oil for more protection.

Jil Sander

On my daily rendezvous with style.com I fell into the capable fashion of Jil Sander. One look I love due to its' wearability and shear simplicity is this below.
With a fresh face to don this outfit it really does make you feel comfortable without wearing it. I love the unusual top with the tailored black slacks. Cute shoes just make it that bit more like-able. I may just be popping in to see more of Jil Sander...

Thanks to style.com for the image.

Like a flower, Versace sprung into this season beautifully...

Versace. Spring 2011. Milan.
Wouldn't you have loved to be part of this?
Stripes : I love the use of them in this dress and adore the cut too! The pockets are also one of my fav features about this dress.

Blue : Well the colour is obviously, without a doubt the best. What a colour to make an entrance and to really pop in! The cut is so flattering and the dual sway in the bottom section is so beautiful and graceful.

Mini : WOW! How cute and short! My favourite thing about this outfit is the shoes. The mix of blue and flesh but the correct shades mixed make them a must have! The cut of this dress is highly old-fashioned as my mom would say but we are moving progressively backwards, aren't we?

Ideas Mag - April 2011

I love Ideas magazine a lot and some of the latest doo-dats from their mag have been so sweetly compiled into the mood board below. I downloaded it from their website : ideasmag.co.za or buy the latest edition from your nearest shop! It is the best DIY magazine ever!

DKN why?

Because they are so so fashionable... Take a peak at the works of art I chose to blog from the DKNY fall 2011 show.
Loving :
1 - the smart hat, very slouchy jersey and skirt combo, the peeking collar...
2 - the whole dang thing! Short dress and white collar like a school girl, how great is this look?!
3 - RED jeans and the very tailored waist coat, jacket duo... Can't say your eyes focus on this one for a little longer...

Drenched in Delicious

At the old venue - Columbo
Last night was amazing... The Food Market has changed venues and the new venue of the Quays is too amazing and the vibe was fantastic.

Complete with romantic lighting, hay barrels and wooden crate tables, glass coke bottle candle holders to light up each table and the aromas of home cooked food, coffee and sweet treats, it really was a beautiful night.
Despite the pouring rain myself and a few friends really did enjoy the evening.

I bought myself some finger licking good chicken pasta(pesto, tomatoes, feta, chicken and more flavours I can't identify) and then a cup of some intriguing red wine (some mix of merlot that was divine). For dessert we all shared some cinnamon roll thingy - it makes my tummy growl thinking of it now!
For my pops I bought some Jennings fudge because as I left the house he said I must do so!
For me I bought a recycled bag for R10 and I got details for an item I will buy next month and will blog it then! So stay tuned...
=)

For anyone who doesn't know, the Wholesome Food Night Market is the first Thursday of every month and used to be held at Columbo Old Coffee Roastery and is now at The Quays. Take a look here for more details for the next market!

Loves being South African for...

CHRIS CHAMELEON
He is playing(he is on at 3.30) this Sunday at 12.30(gates open) at the Botanical Gdns in Durban! Tickets cost R80 per adult before Sunday and R100 at the Gate! Catlike Thieves(play at 14.30) will be the opening act and I assure you they are pretty darn cool too!

I like Chris when I first watched him on 7de Laan(yet another reason to love being a South African) and ever since he has had a small space in my SA heart! He makes wacky noises and that is even cooler! Go and support him if you can.

Outfit Me

I want! I want! I want! It is so bad to want but how many of you can look at this and not want?!

You can see more at the following : http://www.shopruche.com/index.php

If I try hard enough, it will be true

So today I actually feel pretty rad... I feel like I belong in a magazine. If not on the fashion runway pages, just the "We found these stylish girls on the street" page will do!

I am wearing my black ruffled mini skirt from Vertigo (don't let that fool you, it is the ONLY item from Vertigo I own), brown pumps with bows from Mr.Price (see, a normal shopper, I told you not to be fooled), my cream jersey with sequined heart "LOVE"  with a brown braided belt from my mom's 60's days and for jewellery : gold necklace with heart, bow and BIRD from Mr.Price, ivory engraved bracelet(with little roses and leaves) vintage from my gran, a shell bracelet vintage from my gran and a diamond ring from I don't know where (you have to prepare yourself for the real thing)...

Now, we need a picture to explain... Well that's impossible. I am working.

Tommy Go-figure

Fashion is amazing! I wish I could sit day in and day out at the front row of Fashion Shows in luxurious places like New York, Milan and China... Instead I sit in the front row of my Mac Book Pro and hit in style.com and tap next as if the models were walking towards me and then away...

I have put up some awesome pics from Tommy Hilfiger's Spring 2011 show. This makes me wish Spring was sooner!

Pics from style.com and compiled by me! =) Happy Thursday, day before Friday!

Raindrops keep calling me to bed... Da da dum...

Ooo, it is pouring and I am glad that tonight I have my friends Chocolate and Glamour to keep me company...

Craig Mannheim - Man over Camera

I have been dying to do a post on my awesome cell leader and firstly friend,  Craig Mannheim!
He is an unbelievable photographer and a great man after God's heart! That shows through his work as he captures things that no man could see in his photographs. God is the painter and Craig is the man who frames the art and places it in a much higher place than deserved!

Craig runs his own business that goes by the name, Unprecedented Pictures. I have linked to his Facebook page as well for more viewing.

I thought I would share a few pics he took of me, as I don't want to go and put some up of other people and I also can't just download from his site. But look below for the link to visit it.

These were taken late at night at a cell photo shoot! How good is our cell leader?! I meshed them into two collages but view them as separate images.
Take a look at his website here : http://www.unprecedentedpictures.co.za/
